Meet The Candidate

Jonas J. Smith is the Conservative Party of Canada’s Yukon candidate for the 2021 federal election.

Jonas is professionally known in the Yukon as an advocate for the territory’s responsible mining industry and for his volunteer work with the Every Student, Every Day student attendance charity, as well as his decades of experience in the hospitality industry and arts community.

His political experience includes serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Yukon Premier, representing the Yukon on the Conservative Party of Canada’s National Council, and serving as the Yukon candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in the 2019 federal election.

Jonas believes in equal opportunity, personal freedom and accountability, and that Canadians know how to spend their own money better than the government.

He is the third generation in his family to call the Yukon home, and is proud to be raising the fourth along with his wife Erika in the Whitehorse area.
